As the final season of Bel-Air approaches, actresses Cassandra Freeman, Coco Jones, and Akira Akbar are preparing to say their farewells to the iconic show. Each of their charactersAunt Viv, Hilary, and Ashleyrepresents a different stage in a woman's journey. The actresses shared their aspirations for what they hope viewers will take away from their roles.
Cassandra Freeman expressed her desire for women to feel empowered and beautiful, encouraging them to realize that embracing and expressing their inner emotions can lead to improved mental and physical health. She believes this message is especially important as women continue to navigate the complexities of life.
Akira Akbar hopes her portrayal of Ashley will resonate with young girls, teaching them that its completely normal to face challenges and not have everything figured out. "It's okay to not fully understand who you are, because you're still evolving and learning. Eventually, you will find your path," she shared.
Meanwhile, Coco Jones wants Hilary's story to remind fans of the importance of self-awareness, especially in the age of social media. She hopes viewers will understand that social media often presents a distorted version of reality and that comparing oneself to others only leads to frustration. "No amount of wealth, relationships, or opportunities can protect you from life's struggles. Everyone is searching for who they truly are," she reflected.
When asked about what they'll miss most about working on Bel-Air, the actresses shared heartfelt memories. Akira mentioned the camaraderie and energy of the cast, describing their bond as one big family. "Being on set felt more like being at home than working," she said.
Coco talked about the stability the show provided, something she doesn't always experience in her music career. She referred to Bel-Air as "the most normal job" she's ever had, highlighting the sense of consistency and comfort it offered. Meanwhile, Cassandra expressed how much she'll miss the insightful conversations with the showrunner, Carla Bank Waddles, before each season. "The show resonated with so many people because the writers were genuinely interested in what was going on in our personal lives," Cassandra remarked.
The final episodes of Bel-Air's fourth and last season will premiere on Monday, marking the end of an era for the beloved series.
