Boston Blue And Sheriff Country Season 2 Renewed by CBS

CBS has confirmed early renewals for two of its freshman series: Boston Blue and Sheriff Country. Both shows received the green light for a second season after just six episodes, reflecting their rapid success with audiences across broadcast and streaming platforms.

The strong reception of our new Friday night series demonstrates the appeal of character-driven plots and the outstanding talent involved both in front of and behind the camera, said Amy Reisenbach, President of CBS Entertainment.

Boston Blue: Season 2 Details

A spin-off of Blue Bloods, Boston Blue brings back Donnie Wahlberg as Danny Reagan. In the series, Reagan joins the Boston Police Department and partners with Detective Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green), the eldest member of a prominent law enforcement family.

The Silver family includes Boston District Attorney Mae Silver (Gloria Reuben), Detective Lena Silver, Police Superintendent Sarah Silver (Maggie Lawson), rookie cop Jonah Silver (Marcus Scribner), and respected pastor Reverend Edwin Peters (Ernie Hudson). As Reagan settles in Boston, he also attempts to rebuild his relationship with his younger son Sean (Mika Amonsen), who is starting his own career in the city.

Boston Blue has averaged 8 million viewers in Nielsen Live +7 multi-platform ratings, with streaming numbers rising 87% compared to Blue Bloods last fall. New episodes air Fridays at 10 p.m., with next-day streaming available on Paramount+.

Sheriff Country: Season 2 Details

A spin-off of Fire Country, Sheriff Country stars Morena Baccarin as Sheriff Mickey Fox, the no-nonsense stepsister of Cal Fire division chief Sharon Leone. The series follows Mickey as she investigates crimes in small-town Edgewater while managing challenges from her ex-con father Wes (W. Earl Brown), who cultivates marijuana off the grid, and dealing with a mysterious situation involving her daughter.

The supporting cast includes Matt Lauria as Nathan Boone, Christopher Gorham as Travis Fraley, and Michele Weaver as Cassidy Campbell. CBS reports that Sheriff Country has averaged 7.6 million viewers in Nielsen Live +7 multi-platform ratings, marking a 33% increase over the same time slot compared to S.W.A.T. Season 8. New episodes air Fridays at 8 p.m., with streaming the following day on Paramount+.
