Drive-By Truckers Reunite with Jason Isbell on 'Colbert' - Watch Now

After 18 years, Drive-By Truckers reunited with Jason Isbell on Tuesdays Late Show for their first official performance together in nearly two decades. The group and their former guitarist performed Hell No, I Aint Happy, a song from their 2003 album Decoration Day, which has recently been reissued in a special edition featuring bonus tracks, a fresh remix, and a 2022 live recording.

Patterson Hood of Drive-By Truckers commented on the performance, saying, We have always stayed friends with Jason, and in fact, our bond is stronger than ever. Decoration Day is a landmark album for us, and Jasons contributions were vital. Its fantastic to have him celebrate this release alongside us.

Although the Late Show appearance was promoted as their first official reunion, Isbell and the band have occasionally performed together since his departure in 2007. In 2017, Isbell joined them onstage in Nashville for a song, and in 2021, he appeared at his Shoals Fest in Alabama, playing guitar on Heathens and singing The Day John Henry Died.

Fans shouldnt anticipate a full-scale reunion following the Decoration Day reissue, as Isbell has already announced 2026 tour dates with his band, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit.
