The upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, set for next year, will proceed financially as planned despite some countries announcing a boycott, organizers confirmed on Friday.
"The total number of participating broadcasters will not influence the budget allocated for the event or the financial support provided by the EBU to Austria's ORF," stated the European Broadcasting Union.
Earlier, a number of broadcasters urged the exclusion of Israel from the contest in light of its involvement in the Gaza conflict. However, following a rule change by EBU member broadcasters, all nations wishing to take part are now permitted, ensuring Israel can compete in Vienna.
In response to this decision, broadcasters from Spain, Ireland, Slovenia, and the Netherlands have declared they will not take part. Iceland is expected to announce its participation status next week.
