Foo Fighters to Perform a Special Stadium Show in Tasmania

The legendary rock band Foo Fighters is set to make a rare trip to Tasmania next January for a single performance. Dave Grohl and the band will perform live in the Apple Isle for the first time since 2015.

Instead of Hobart, the band will take the stage on January 24, 2026, at UTAS Stadium in Launceston, Tasmanias second-largest city, with a population under 100,000. This marks Foo Fighters debut performance in Launceston.

Launceston is also notable as the hometown of renowned Australian concert promoter Michael Chugg, co-founder of Frontier Touring. In 2019, Chugg formed an exclusive partnership with Frontier Touring through his company, Chugg Entertainment. Frontier Touring, part of the Mushroom Group, will produce the upcoming Foo Fighters stadium show, continuing a long-standing collaboration with the band.

Frontier Touring previously organized Foo Fighters 2023 Australian tour, which included sold-out stadium shows in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. The tour celebrated their 11th studio album, But Here We Are (RCA/Sony), the first release following the passing of drummer Taylor Hawkins.

The Tasmania announcement was hinted at with a Frontier Touring social media post showing the Foo Fighters FF logo on a vintage-style pub billboard, captioned, Give me a reason, show me a sign. Fans were surprised to learn that the band would perform in Australias 18th-largest city.

Foo Fighters have a history of performing single regional shows, such as their 2022 concert at GMHBA Stadium (Kardinia Park) in Geelong, a Melbourne satellite city, aimed at supporting the local touring industry post-lockdowns. The band has sold over 1.8 million records in Australia, achieving nine No. 1 albums on the ARIA chart, including But Here We Are.

The Tasmania concert follows a January 14, 2026, benefit performance at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles supporting homeless organizations Hope the Mission and Los Angeles Mission. Recently, the Foo Fighters also claimed the fourth-most No. 1 singles in Billboards Mainstream Rock Airplay history with Asking for a Friend, which also became their 13th No. 1 on Billboards Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, their second of the year.

Tickets for the all-ages Australian concert go on sale to the public on December 10, with early access for Frontier Touring members and Telstra Plus members. Opening acts include Brisbane-based Full Flower Moon Band and Launceston psych-rock trio Spooky Eyes.
