JD Vance Acknowledges Family Struggles After Wife Usha Spotted Without Ring

Vice President JD Vance is speaking candidly about his marriage to Usha Vance after she was recently photographed without her wedding ring. On several occasions, the 39-year-old attorney appeared ringless, though a spokesperson explained that Usha often forgets her ring due to her busy life as a mother of three.

In an interview with NBC News released Friday, December 5, JD addressed the challenges of family life under the media spotlight since assuming office alongside President Donald Trump. There are certainly ways in which its difficult on the family, he said. Im not going to pretend that it isnt. But its the sacrifice that we signed up for.

JD also discussed the impact of public attention on their children: sons Ewan, 8, and Vivek, 5, and daughter Mirabel, 3. Our 8-year-old really doesnt like it. He wants as private a life as possible. When we attend events at the White House and see the cameras, he isnt thrilled, so we try to shield him as much as we can, he explained.

By contrast, he noted that their 5-year-old enjoys the attention, saying, He probably likes it too much. He enjoys the special treatment, like getting candy or cookies wherever he goes.

Regarding his marriage, JD assured that there is no cause for concern. He described his relationship with Usha as as strong as its ever been and said she has embraced her role as second lady. Despite occasional rumors, including JDs widely covered hug with Erika Kirk at a Turning Point USA event, he downplayed the speculation. With anything in life, you take the good with the bad, he said.

JD also recounted an incident when Usha forgot her wedding ring, saying she considered retrieving it to avoid misinterpretation. JD replied, Let them. Its not even worth the trip. He added that the couple found humor in the social media buzz, enjoying the attention rather than worrying about it.
