Kate Winslet expresses pride as her first film as a director premieres

Renowned British actress Kate Winslet revealed her immense pride after directing her first feature film, Goodbye June, and expressed enthusiasm about pursuing further projects behind the camera. Speaking at the films world premiere in London on Wednesday, the 50-year-old, who also stars in the movie, described the directing experience as "incredibly rewarding."

"Working with the actors and the children was such a joy, and collaborating with the crew, seeing everyone function as a team, was truly uplifting," Winslet shared.

The Christmas-themed drama explores the story of siblings reuniting as their elderly mothers health deteriorates. The story was inspired by the passing of Winslet's own mother and penned by her son, Joe Anders, whose father is acclaimed director Sam Mendes.

"I was blown away by his writing and the quality of the dialogueit was exceptional," Winslet said about her sons script. "When the script was ready to circulate among directors, I realized there was no way we could let it out of my hands."

Winslet noted she had long considered directing, encouraged by others in the industry, but waited until she felt fully prepared. "Im incredibly proud of myself for taking this step at 50," she added with a laugh.

The cast also features Dame Helen Mirren, Timothy Spall, Andrea Riseborough, Johnny Flynn, Stephen Merchant, and Toni Collette. Goodbye June will hit cinemas in the UK and US on December 12 and will be available on Netflix starting Christmas Eve.
