Prince Harry makes a short cameo in Meghan Markle's Netflix holiday special to tease her culinary skills

Prince Harry playfully teased Meghan Markles cooking during a short appearance in her Netflix holiday special, With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration. The 56-minute episode, released on Wednesday, featured the Duchess of Sussex preparing a beet salad and her mother Doria Raglands gumbo alongside Top Chef judge Tom Colicchio.

After Meghan admitted that Harry disliked all the ingredients in her salad, the Duke of Sussex appeared on-screen. He first complimented the gumbo with a kiss and then reacted to the salad, which contained anchovies, black olives, and fennel.

Oh, wow. Thats like the anti-salad, Harry joked. Colicchio added, Everything you hate. Harry continued, That salad, were having this eye off. That is amazing how theres not many things in the world that I dont like. Theyre all in one bowl. I dont know what would happen to me.

Despite poking fun at the salad, Harry praised the gumbo, especially the version made by Meghans mother. Trying the dish, which included sausage and chicken, he commented on the spiciness: I can feel it puncturing through the top of my head! Its delicious. He also added, Im not so sure its as good as your moms, but its certainly close.

Meghan responded enthusiastically, saying, Oh my gosh, my mom will love you for that. You know what, what a good thing to say for your mother-in-law.

Elsewhere in the special, Meghan created personalized Christmas crackers for her family while wearing matching red festive pajamas. She made lavender roll-on scents for her four-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibet, and a small toy burger and fries for six-year-old Prince Archie. Harrys cracker, labeled My Love, contained a love letter, chocolate, and a tiny hat.

She told restaurateur Will Guidara that she had discovered the Christmas cracker tradition during her first holiday with the royal family in 2017. Living in the UK, its just such a part of Christmas holidays, for sure, she said.

The special received mixed reviews. Hannah Ewans of The Independent described it as not fun, enjoyable or even aspirational, likening it to background content suitable for casual viewing rather than a true holiday special.

With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration is currently available on Netflix.
