Rian Johnson, the director behind Knives Out, has repeatedly declined requests from numerous fans to create a Benoit Blanc story featuring Daniel Craig's character alongside Muppets. Despite this, Sesame Street found a creative workaround. On Tuesday, the iconic children's show unveiled a segment where Benoit Blanc humorously renamed Beignet Blanc is portrayed as a Muppet, tasked with solving a mystery centered on a stolen pie.

In the segment titled Forks Out, Beignet Blanc investigates who devoured Cookie Monsters triple berry pie. Craig provides the voice for the Muppet detective, opening the scene with: I have arrived to this street of sesame, on a sunny day turned cloudy. We have a culinary culprit in our oven mitts, and to solve this confectionary conundrum, we must look right in front of our googly eyes.

The episode also ties into Netflix's current content strategy. The streaming platform now holds rights to Sesame Street (while episodes continue airing on PBS) and recently released the third Benoit Blanc film, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, in theaters on November 26, with streaming starting December 12.

Johnson has previously dismissed the idea of merging Muppets with Knives Out. In an interview on The Hollywood Reporters Awards Chatter podcast, he explained that mixing the two would compromise both universes. If you put Muppets in a Benoit Blanc movie, it would feel totally wrong because they would be getting murdered, he said. Alternatively, placing Benoit Blanc in a Muppet film would be fun, but it would disrupt the essence of his character. I would just love to make a classic, fantastic Muppet movie.
