'Super Troopers 3' to be released in August

Searchlight Pictures has confirmed that Super Troopers 3 will hit theaters on August 7. The announcement was made on Friday, accompanied by a photo featuring the original cast along with new additions Nat Faxon and Chace Crawford as highway patrol officers.

The film will see the return of Brian Cox as the troopers' captain and Marisa Coughlan as a policewoman. Joining them are Andrew Dismukes, Hannah Simone, Iqbal Theba, Sakina Jaffrey, Jon Rudinstsky, and Lisa Gilroy.

Chandrasekhar directs the movie, with the screenplay co-written by the comedy troupe Broken Lizard.

Originally released in 2002, Super Troopers was the second feature from Broken Lizard, a group formed at Colgate University. The 2018 sequel was funded through Kickstarter. The films follow a group of mischievous New England highway patrol officers who entertain themselves with pranks and games while on duty.
