Apple TV has officially announced that Hugh Laurie will join the cast of Tehran, coinciding with the release date for the show's third season and the confirmation of a fourth season in production. Season 3 is set to premiere on January 9, with the first episode available immediately, followed by new episodes every Friday until February 27.
Created by Dana Eden, Moshe Zonder, and Maor Kohn, and penned by Tony Saint and Simon Allen, Tehran season 3 consists of eight episodes. Daniel Syrkin returns as the director. Hugh Laurie will portray Eric Peterson, a South African nuclear inspector, joining the returning cast including Niv Sultan as Mossad agent Tamar Rabinyan, along with Shaun Toub and Shila Ommi. New cast members include Sasson Gabai, Phoenix Raei, and Bahar Pars.
The fourth season is already underway, continuing the story of Tamar, who operates undercover in Tehran. Following the events of season two, where she went rogue and faced the loss of her closest allies, season three explores Tamars efforts to reinvent herself and regain Mossads trust in order to survive.
Tehran is a collaboration between Apple TV and KAN 11, Israel's public broadcaster. Executive producers include Dana Eden and Shula Spiegel for Donna and Shula Productions, Alon Aranya for Paper Plane Productions, Julien Leroux for Paper Entertainment, and Moshe Zonder, Daniel Syrkin, Omri Shenhar, Tony Saint, Dari Shai Slutzky, Tal Fraifeld, and Ronny Perry for KAN.
