A popular pub known for hosting family-friendly gatherings has received approval to increase its maximum attendance from 6,000 to 8,000 visitors. Almondsbury Creative, situated near the M5 on Gloucester Road, utilizes its extensive grounds for festivals, fireworks displays, and other large-scale activities.
South Gloucestershire Council has granted permission for bigger events, although the pub's landlord, Garth Jackson, emphasized that 8,000 is a "maximum theoretical number" and is not expected to occur frequently. "We always plan our events with consideration for nearby residents," he explained.
Two local residents raised objections, citing concerns about noise and parking. One wrote to the council: "I previously had to complain about loud noise and booming bass from the Halloween event. Large crowds also cause parking difficulties and safety issues crossing the A38."
Responding to these concerns, Mr. Jackson stated: "We direct speakers toward the motorway to act as a sound buffer, and residential areas are about a mile away. We've organized these events for many years and coordinate closely with local authorities. Traffic is managed with numerous marshals on-site."
The pub continues to host family-oriented events, including festivals and fireworks, but clarified that gatherings reaching the maximum capacity will be rare, with no such events currently planned.
The updated licence also permits the hosting of boxing and wrestling matches, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
Almondsbury Creative was recognized as the runner-up in the Community Hero category of the 2025 Great British Pub Awards, receiving 1,000, which was donated to the Grand Appeal, supporting Bristol Children's Hospital.
