Woman perishes in townhouse fire

Authorities have confirmed the death of a woman in a residential fire in Brentwood. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon at a semi-detached home on Milton Road, Warley, where over 50 firefighters were deployed to bring the flames under control.

Essex Police reported that the woman passed away at the scene, while a man was hospitalized after suffering from smoke inhalation. The fire, which took place near Brentwood railway station, is being treated as non-suspicious.

Another nearby house suffered fire-related damage, but no occupants were injured. Fire crews, equipped with breathing apparatus, fought the fire inside the property, while others used an aerial ladder to extinguish flames from above.

Police maintained a cordon around the area on Saturday, closing the road at its intersection with Crescent Road. Residents in the vicinity were advised to keep their doors and windows shut due to the heavy smoke.
