Groom and Groomsmen Recreate Dance from "The Summer I Turned Pretty" for Bride Who is a Superfan at Wedding (Exclusive)

Royston Soares delighted his wife, Aishwaria Manek, by performing a memorable dance from The Summer I Turned Pretty alongside his groomsmen at their wedding reception. Manek shared with PEOPLE, "This dance was beyond my dreams, and seeing Royston dance with all of our friends is a moment I will cherish forever!"

The idea for the performance came from Soares sister, knowing Manek is a huge fan of the show. With the help of nine groomsmen, the 29-year-old groom recreated the escort debutante dance originally performed by Jeremiah and Steven in the series first season. Manek recalled her reaction: "I almost passed out! The dance was so cute and fun, I almost wanted to join them since I knew all the steps as a fan."

Set to Bazzi's "I Like That," the performance captivated guests with a mix of humor and charm, earning laughter, applause, and an "adorable" reaction from Manek. Soares reflected, "The wedding guests were impressed by my dance skills and attention to detail, and kept saying it was amazing how I learned so many routines to surprise Aishwaria over our three-day wedding."

Soares, a machine learning engineer, aimed to make the multicultural wedding weekend extra special. He planned three dances: two with his groomsmen and one with the brides party. While he had already chosen Backstreet Boys "Backstreet's Back" and Chris Browns "Forever" for other routines, he sought a final song that combined style with simplicity. His sister suggested the dance from The Summer I Turned Pretty, knowing it would delight Manek. "I knew she would love this surprise! The dance looked fun and natural, so minimal rehearsal was needed and the groomsmen would enjoy it," Soares said.

With limited time to rehearse, Soares recorded himself performing the dance two days before the wedding and shared the video with his groomsmen. Best men Abhishek and Anvesh, along with groomsman Saniya Mirwani, led the teaching sessions, practicing for two hours before the reception.

Reflecting on the performance, Manek said, "This whole dance mix was the cutest thing a girl could ask for." Soares added, "Seeing how excited she was makes me smile. Im so proud and grateful to my friends for learning the dance in just a few hours and performing it flawlessly."

The video of the groomsmens performance, shared by Mirwani on Instagram, quickly went viral. Kaufman, one of the original actors from the show, even liked the post, and the official The Summer I Turned Pretty account commented, "If this isnt my wedding, I dont want it ."
