Kellie Pickler Triumphs Over Her In-Laws In Contentious Dispute Over Late Husband's Property

In a significant development amid ongoing legal disputes, Kellie Pickler has won a court ruling against her late husband Kyle Jacobs parents, Reed and Sharon Jacobs. Following Kyle's passing, Pickler became embroiled in a contentious disagreement with his parents over estate and property matters, which included multiple legal actions and a subpoena demanding numerous items from her possession.

Judge Dismisses In-Laws' Subpoena

On November 25, the court rejected the subpoena issued by Reed and Sharon Jacobs, describing it as "unusual on its face" and invalid. The judge noted that the requested items included bulky and heavy personal property, making compliance impractical. Pickler had raised concerns about the legality of transporting certain items, such as a firearm, as part of her defense.

The ruling highlighted the unclear intentions of the parents in handling the subpoena and suggested they may have misunderstood the legal process. Since no formal complaint had been filed against Pickler, the court deemed the subpoena void and unenforceable. While Reed and Sharon could pursue other legal avenues, this decision effectively prevents them from using the subpoena to claim Kyles possessions.

Pickler Challenges In-Laws' Estate Oversight

This court victory follows Picklers previous objections to the subpoena, in which she argued that it was not a valid court order and any disputes regarding Kyle's belongings should be handled through her civil petition rather than probate proceedings. The list of items in dispute included firearms, a Samurai sword, jewelry, collectibles, musical instruments, electronics, and personal documents.

Pickler has also sought to remove Reed and Sharon from their roles as administrators of Kyle's estate. Initially, she declined the position herself, resulting in his parents being appointed. She has requested an accounting of their management of the estate, while the parents opposed her request through their own legal motion.

Additional Points of Dispute

Other conflicts between Pickler and her in-laws have centered on arrangements related to Kyle's cremation. Reed and Sharon attempted to subpoena records from Harpeth Memorial Gardens Funeral Home & Cremation Center concerning communications with Pickler and the handling of personal items. The funeral home has not yet complied, but no formal objections have been filed.

Kyle Jacobs Cause of Death

Kyle Jacobs tragically died by suicide in February 2023. Subsequent toxicology reports confirmed no drugs were present in his system, though medical records revealed he faced multiple health issues, including pseudoseizures, gastrointestinal bleeding, liver problems, and chronic alcohol use. On the morning of his death, Pickler discovered he was missing from bed and, after failing to access an upstairs office, called authorities. Police determined Kyle had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, officially ruling his death a suicide.
