Michelle Obama and Michelle Williams photographed backstage at Brandy and Monica's Tour

On Sunday night, November 30, just after Thanksgiving celebrations, former First Lady Michelle Obama and Grammy-winning artist Michelle Williams attended Brandy & Monicas highly anticipated The Boy Is Mine Tour at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.

Black Promoters Collective, the production company behind the 32-show tour, shared a backstage montage on Instagram on Monday morning, December 1, calling it a special night. The post highlighted the honor of having former First Lady Michelle Obama attend the D.C. stop of the tour.

The video shows Mrs. Obama walking backstage, taking photos with Brandy, Monica, and special guest Kelly Rowland, who performs a 40-minute set at each tour stop. In one clip, Michelle Obama smiles for a group photo with Michelle Williams, who was also present.

Recently, Michelle Williams received her first Grammy nomination outside of Destinys Child for her performance on the 2024 Broadway cast recording of Death Becomes Her. Nominated for Best Musical Theater Album, she competes against renowned artists including Audra McDonald, Jonathan Groff, and Darren Criss. Earlier this year, she performed If You Want Perfection at the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Meanwhile, Michelle Obama has had a busy season. On November 4, she released her third book, The Look, featuring over 200 photographs documenting her style evolution. Earlier in the year, she spoke with Tina Knowles about the Matriarch memoir, reflecting her long-standing connection with the Knowles-Carter family. She also praised Blue Ivys performance on Beyoncs Cowboy Carter Tour, which included a surprise Destinys Child reunion.

The tour has seven remaining dates, concluding at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida, on December 14. Muni Long, originally part of the lineup, announced her withdrawal due to medical reasons. Grammy-winning singer Ma will replace her for the remaining shows.
