Reba McEntire Halts Savannah Guthrie Interview Due to 'Husband' Error

During a live segment on the Today Show, host Savannah Guthrie made an on-air error that prompted Reba McEntire to set the record straight immediately. The iconic country singer joined Guthrie and Carson Daly to talk about her role as a judge on The Voice, her upcoming performance at the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting, and the second season of Happys Place, where she plays bar owner Bobbie McAllister.

Partway through the conversation, McEntire had to interrupt to correct Guthrie regarding her relationship with actor Rex Linn. The host had mistakenly referred to Linn, who also stars in Happys Place, as Reba McEntires husband. Guthrie started saying, You know when you also met your husband there, so good ol Rex causing McEntire to pause and collect herself. Carson Daly gestured off-camera to Linn, who was present on stage during the interview.

McEntire raised her hands and clarified before the conversation continued. Now, wait a minute! Well, wait, before everyone has a conniption fit at home, were just engaged, she said. Guthrie quickly corrected herself: Youre engaged. Im sorry. Youre soon-to-be [married]. McEntire laughed and added, My family is gonna [go], Wait! You didnt tell us! Guthrie responded, Good point.

When asked about working together on set, McEntire described her fianc, Finn, as a workaholic who loves to rehearse. She admitted that she isnt as enthusiastic about rehearsal, but Finn ensures she knows her lines. After dating for four years, the couple became engaged on Christmas Eve 2024, though the announcement was delayed due to the LA fires. Nearly a year later, they have not yet set a wedding date, but McEntire hopes for a low-key celebration with lots of fun, lots of people, lots of food.
