'Springsteen: Save Me From Nowhere' Tops Billboard's List of Music Biopics With the Highest Worldwide Grosses

The Bruce Springsteen biopic, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, has garnered a range of critical reactions and started slower than anticipated at cinemas. By Sunday, November 30, it had accumulated $44.1 million worldwide, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com, placing it at No. 20 among music biopics in terms of global earnings.

Unlike conventional cradle-to-grave biographies, the film concentrates on a pivotal moment in Springsteen's career rather than his entire life. It chronicles the period following his 1980 breakthrough with The River, which produced his first major pop hit, Hungry Heart. During this time, Springsteen pursued a quieter, acoustic project, Nebraska, understanding it would not match the commercial success of The River, which had held the top spot on the Billboard 200 for four weeks. The album peaked at No. 3 but reflected Springsteen's artistic priorities over chart performance.

The film stars Jeremy Allen White, known for The Bear, as Springsteen. Directed and written by Scott Cooper, the movie adapts Warren Zanes 2023 book Deliver Me From Nowhere while incorporating elements from Springsteens 2016 autobiography, Born to Run. The cast also includes Jeremy Strong, Paul Walter Hauser, Stephen Graham, and Odessa Young. Despite mixed reviews, White and Strongs performances were widely praised. Music supervision was handled by Fraites, co-founder of The Lumineers, a fellow New Jersey native.
