Karine Jean-Pierre to lead conversation with LGBTQ+ women attorneys general on restraining Trump

Former White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre will take the stage on Friday morning at a Washington, D.C. hotel near the White House to moderate the LGBTQ+ Victory Institutes panel, LGBTQ+ Women in Leadership. The session will gather some of the most influential LGBTQ+ women in public office from across the United States.

Jean-Pierre, who recently shared in her memoir Independent why she is no longer affiliated with the Democratic Party despite years in Democratic roles, will address an audience mainly composed of Democratic elected officials, strategists, and advocates.

The panel will feature Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, and Hawaii Attorney General Anne Lopez. They will discuss their experiences defending civil rights and protecting communities while confronting federal challenges from the Trump administration.

It is part of the Victory Institutes 41st annual International LGBTQ+ Leaders Conference, the worlds largest gathering of LGBTQ+ political figures. More than 700 elected officials, policy experts, and human rights advocates have gathered in the nations capital for three days of workshops, strategy sessions, and discussions focused on safeguarding democracy and LGBTQ+ rights in a challenging political climate.

Jean-Pierre emphasized the importance of such gatherings. The Victory Institute conference offers a rare opportunity for LGBTQ+ leaders from around the world to connect, exchange strategies, and strengthen collective influence, she said. With rights under attack, this space is crucial for reinforcing networks, amplifying voices, and advancing LGBTQ+ representation at all levels of government.

The panel will set the stage for one of the conferences key highlights: President Joe Biden receiving the Chris Abele Impact Award for leading what organizers call the most LGBTQ-inclusive administration in American history.
