Legislators acquire Epstein's financial records, unveil fresh images of his private island

Washington Members of the House Oversight Committee have announced they received financial documents from JPMorgan Chase and Deutsche Bank concerning Jeffrey Epstein. Alongside the records, the committee unveiled previously unseen photos and videos of Epsteins private Caribbean island.

The banking documents may provide insight into Epsteins complex financial network and connections. Epstein was a key client of JPMorgan Chases private banking services for several years until the bank ended its relationship with him in 2013. He subsequently moved his accounts to Deutsche Bank, where he remained a client until 2018. Epstein died by suicide in 2019 in a Manhattan jail while facing federal sex trafficking charges. Both banks reached settlements in 2023 for their financial ties to Epstein. Deutsche Bank paid $75 million in a lawsuit claiming it knowingly benefited from Epsteins criminal activities, while JPMorgan settled for $290 million. Both institutions have expressed regret for their prior involvement with him.

Representative Robert Garcia of California, the ranking member on the Oversight Committee, stated that Democrats intend to make the financial records public in the days ahead.

New Images and Videos of Epsteins Island

The committee released 73 photos and four videos depicting Epsteins estate on Little St. James, a 72-acre island in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Epstein allegedly abused underage girls at this property and held business interests in the territory. Garcia described the materials as a disturbing look into the world of Jeffrey Epstein and his island, emphasizing the committees commitment to transparency and justice for survivors.

The released media shows multiple areas of the estate, including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and offices. Some images display partially redacted notes on a blackboard, while others show a room resembling a medical office with masks of male faces on the walls. Outdoor shots capture pools, palm trees, and other parts of the property.

Investigation Requests and Legal Developments

On November 18, the Oversight Committee requested all documents and communications from the U.S. Virgin Islands attorney general related to investigations of Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year sentence for conspiring with Epstein to sexually abuse minors.

Additionally, Congress passed a law requiring the Justice Department to release all records related to Epstein within 30 days, a countdown that began on November 19. The extent of any redactions in these documents remains unknown.
