The eldest daughter of Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), Lauren Greene Sanders, has shared her support following her mothers recent controversies and resignation from Congress. On Friday, Greene Sanders posted her admiration for her mother, expressing that she will always be incredibly proud of her while sharing a video in which Greene announced her departure in January.
Greene Sanders described her mother as a unique Congresswoman and emphasized her unwavering commitment to an America First approach on social media platform X.
The following day, Greene Sanders dismissed claims that her mothers resignation was influenced by ambitions for a 2028 presidential run. Responding to a Time article citing sources close to Greene, she wrote, This is false.
Marjorie Taylor Greene also addressed the reports, criticizing the publication as dishonest. She clarified on X that she has never intended to run for president and has only treated the notion humorously.
Greene gained national attention in 2020 as a vocal supporter of former President Donald Trump and the Make America Great Again movement. Recently, however, she has surprised many by disagreeing with Trump over his management of the 43-day government shutdown ending on November 12 and his hesitation to release classified documents related to Jeffrey Epstein.
In her resignation statement, Greene referenced the Epstein document controversy and criticized several GOP leaders, including House Speaker Mike Johnson. She highlighted her advocacy for victims of sexual abuse and human trafficking, stating that defending these women should not result in being labeled a traitor or threatened by the President she had supported.
Greene also suggested that numerous establishment Republicans aligned with Trumps administration secretly harbor resentment toward him.
Following her public criticism of Trump, the former president withdrew his support and labeled Greene a traitor.
Although some Democrats have praised Greene for challenging MAGA and Trump, she insisted that her views have not fundamentally changed. She told Vanity Fair that her love for the country and its citizens is stronger than ever, even if it means disagreeing with members of her own political side.
