Nigeria affected by repercussions from the US

South Africas envoy recently emphasized the need to diversify trade partnerships to mitigate risks from Washingtons economic pressures. Similarly, Nigerias foreign minister has highlighted the countrys pursuit of strategic autonomy.

Other nations, such as India, are also adapting by strengthening multilateral ties in response to US tariffs. While these situations serve as cautionary examples, there are potential opportunities, such as leveraging peace deals in the DR Congo-Rwanda region, to benefit from Washingtons transactional approach. Despite Chinas opposition to possible US military action in Nigeria, some observers view the country as a small piece in a broader geopolitical strategy.
