Rand Paul warns of Trump's boat attacks as a prelude to a potential invasion of Venezuela

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has expressed concerns that President Donald Trumps recent attacks on suspected drug traffickers may be laying the groundwork for a military invasion of Venezuela. Speaking with Stuart Varney on Fox Business Network, Paul was asked about the administrations growing military presence in the Caribbean.

These boat strikes could signal a move toward invading Venezuela, Paul stated. I am opposed to offensive wars and regime change. One aspect I appreciated about Trump was his resistance to conflicts like the Iraq and Libya wars. Such interventions often result in chaos, heavy loss of life, and enormous costs. I hope an invasion isnt on the horizon, but the signs are worrisome.

When questioned about alternatives to a military campaign, Paul emphasized the complexities of global politics. The alternative is accepting a world where perfect governance cannot always be imposed. Many South American nations are governed by socialist leaders, yet historically, we havent treated socialism as a justification for intervention. Rational policy avoids forcing regime change, as seen in China after Tiananmen Square. While the world is imperfect, we cannot assume the role of replacing governments everywhere.
