Trump alerts about danger to western ‘culture’ from large-scale migration in new security strategy: ‘Disruptive population movements’

Donald Trump has warned that large-scale migration threatens the stability of Western civilization, pointing to Europe as particularly vulnerable. The administration has published a 33-page report asserting that Europe faces the possibility of civilization erasure within the next two decades.

The report, titled National Security Strategy of the United States of America, links migration to various societal challenges, including censorship, declining birth rates, and erosion of national identities. It states:

"Europe confronts challenges from supranational organizations that weaken political liberty and sovereignty, migration policies reshaping societies, suppression of free speech, plunging birthrates, and loss of national confidence."

Despite highlighting risks, the document notes that the rise of nationalist parties in Europe offers some optimism, though it acknowledges these parties are often controversial. The strategy also questions whether some European nations will remain dependable U.S. allies, signaling potential shifts in long-standing transatlantic relationships.

Former U.S. diplomat Brett Bruen criticized the plan as strategically disastrous, arguing it damages American diplomacy and undermines trust with allies. Nevertheless, Trump described the strategy as a roadmap to maintain America as the greatest nation in history and a bastion of freedom."

The reports perspective on migration echoes the contentious great replacement narrative, suggesting demographic changes could disrupt Western societies. Trump has frequently clashed with European leaders over immigration and reportedly directed efforts to pressure Europe to reduce migration flows.

The strategy also attributes Europes low birth rates to migration and urges political leaders to respond. A presidential order issued in November instructed officials to emphasize migrant-related crimes, portraying immigrants as threats to social cohesion.

Domestically, Trump continues to pursue strict immigration controls, including expanding travel bans and proposing a permanent suspension of migration from certain countries. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed plans to extend restrictions to over 30 nations, with 12 countries currently barred and seven others facing tight limitations.
