Trump Pardons House Democrat, Ending Their Nightmare

President Donald Trump, during a meeting at the White House on Friday with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbn, announced an unexpected pardon for Representative Henry Cuellar of Texas. Trump stated that Cuellar, a Democrat, had been the target of politically motivated prosecution under the Biden administration.

Cuellar was indicted in May 2024 on accusations of accepting more than $600,000 in illicit foreign payments and engaging in money laundering. Prosecutors warned that both Cuellar and his wife, who faced similar charges, could have received lengthy prison sentences if convicted.

In a statement posted to Truth Social, Trump argued that the Biden administration had used federal law enforcement against political opponents. He claimed Cuellar was punished for criticizing the administrations border policies, noting that both the congressman and his wife, Imelda, were targeted simply for voicing dissent.

Trump described the actions taken against Cuellar as un-American and accused Democratic leaders of threatening democratic institutions. He declared his decision a full and unconditional pardon for the Texas lawmaker and his wife, adding that although he did not personally know Cuellar, the congressman could now sleep well because his nightmare is finally over.
