A federal judge in Florida has authorized the disclosure of grand jury transcripts from the 2005 and 2007 probes into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The ruling follows a request from the Department of Justice after Congress passed legislation last month mandating the public release of all materials related to Epstein.
The court order specifies that the law covers "unclassified records, documents, communications, and investigative materials" connected to Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell.
Previously, a similar request by the Justice Department was denied in August for violating federal grand jury confidentiality rules. The new law now supersedes those restrictions, allowing the release of the records.
