Ryan Day had a feeling Ohio State football’s headsets might malfunction during the Michigan game

COLUMBUS, Ohio During the second half of Saturdays victory over Michigan, Ohio State football experienced a failure in their sideline headset communication. Coach Ryan Day revealed that the team had already prepared for such a scenario.

Earlier in the week, I sensed there was a chance this could occur, so we had a strategy ready, Day explained.

Ohio State managed the disruption using a wristband system and by sending quarterback Julian Sayin to the sideline between plays. According to Day, it took some time before the headsets were operational again.

Although the Buckeyes held a multi-possession lead throughout much of the second half, Day expressed pride in the teams response, even if his coaching staff found it unusual that he had them plan for such a specific issue.

We had preparations for every possible scenario, Day said. In any big game, you have to think ahead and put backup plans in place for anything that might arise.

He added with a smile, Its interesting how your mind works sometimes.
