Glass Cypress to Debut First Show Outside of Schedule at Paris Men’s Fashion Week

Houston-based artisanal menswear label Glass Cypress, created by brothers Samee and Saber Ahmed, is set to make its debut in Paris with a runway show this January. Known for dressing stars like Bad Bunny, Justin Bieber, Drake, and G-Dragon, the brand has steadily grown its influence in luxury menswear.

Founded in 2016, Glass Cypress blends contemporary silhouettes with traditional South Asian techniques, including Nakshi Kantha embroidery, hand-dyeing, quilting, and detailed construction. Handcrafted details have become a signature of the brand. Earlier this year, the label ventured into womenswear, unveiling its collection at New York Fashion Week.

The upcoming menswear presentation will take place on January 21 at Ogata, a stylish venue in Paris Marais district that combines a restaurant, tea salon, boutique, and gallery. The brand already maintains a sales showroom in Paris, which influenced their decision to host their first show in the city.

Self-funded and without formal fashion training, the Ahmed brothers began their journey by screen-printing T-shirts and gradually reinventing classic garments with their unique vision. Examples include a cropped, boxy black denim jacket with geometric flap pockets, a green mohair cardigan with an allover jacquard heart motif, a button-down shirt with a dual-placket design, and a khaki trenchcoat featuring angled pockets and decorative hanging threads.

Not having formal training allows us to challenge conventions and explore new ideas, said Saber Ahmed. True luxury lies in novelty and offering fresh perspectives on clothing. This philosophy led them to relocate production from Italy to their family-run factory in Bangladesh, where artisans handle hand embroidery, natural dyeing, and garment finishing.

The brand initially sold directly to customers, opening a Houston store in 2018 in a renovated Montrose home. Two years later, they launched Neo, an Omakase restaurant within the same space, which has become a local hotspot. Their first wholesale partnership was with H.Lorenzo in Los Angeles in 2022, which sold out within three weeks. Today, Glass Cypress is stocked by Ssense, Saks Fifth Avenue, The Webster, and Browns, and the brand is expanding into South Korea, South Africa, and Dubai.

Glass Cypress has been recognized as a Saks Fifth Avenue Designer Accelerator brand and has collaborated on capsule collections with companies including Scarrs Pizza and The Webster. Bestsellers include a cashmere-cotton blend free flowing hoodie, denim, and shirts. Core pieces are priced between $800 and $2,500, appealing mainly to creative professionals in their early 30s.

As they gear up for Paris, the brothers remain focused on their long-term goal: establishing Glass Cypress as one of the leading names in luxury fashion. We want to be one of the great luxury brands, said Samee Ahmed.
