5 Students Sent to Hospital After Consuming Gummies at School — Angry Mother Threatens Legal Action

A mother in Florida says her 14-year-old daughter fell ill at school after unknowingly eating a gummy infused with marijuana, leading to the hospitalization of five students.

The incident occurred Wednesday morning at Stranahan High School in Fort Lauderdale, where several teenagers began experiencing dizziness and confusion after consuming the candy.

According to the girls mother, another student handed out the gummies without disclosing what was inside. She stated that her daughter was deceived and is now considering involving law enforcement.

After arriving at a nearby hospital, the teen received IV treatment and appeared disoriented, later saying she did not initially understand how she had gotten there.

The student described the gummy as tasting like ordinary candy before its effects set in, explaining that the experience felt surreal and disconnected.

The Broward County Public School District reported that emergency responders were called after several students showed negative reactions to the gummies. Officials confirmed that five teens were transported for evaluation and that disciplinary actions were taken in line with the districts conduct policy.

Local outlets reported that no criminal charges have been filed at this time.

The mother now fears sending her daughter back to campus, saying she expected a safe environment and is alarmed that drugs were able to circulate among students.
