Dangerous Magnet Hazard Prompts Recall of CreateOn Crayola-Branded pip-Cubes

CreateOn has announced a nationwide recall of its Crayola-branded pip-Cubes after identifying a safety concern with the magnets inside the building blocks. If the seams of the cubes come apart, the magnets may become loose. No injuries have been reported, but the company warns that the risk is serious and urges families to stop using the cubes immediately.

Reason for the Recall

Some cubes may split at the seams, exposing small, powerful magnets. If a child swallows more than one magnet, or a magnet along with a metal object, the items can attract each other inside the body, potentially causing severe internal injuries. Dangers include intestinal perforation, twisted intestines, blockages, infections, and in extreme cases, death. Even a single detached magnet is considered highly dangerous.

Instructions for Families

CreateOn is offering free replacement kits for affected cubes. Parents should remove the cubes from children immediately, check that none are missing, and contact the company to request a replacement. A prepaid return label will be provided for sending back the recalled items before receiving the new set.

Identifying Recalled pip-Cube Sets

The recall applies to both Bold Colors and Glitter pip-Cubes sold in 24-piece and 27-piece sets. Each cube features the Crayola logo, and the packaging lists model and UPC numbers to verify if a set is included. Bold Colors sets contain red, green, blue, and yellow cubes, while Glitter sets include purple, pink, blue, and green cubes with glitter.

  • Bold Colors, 24 Cubes Model 1000199 UPC 850067300199
  • Bold Colors, 27 Cubes Model 1000243 UPC 850067300205
  • Glitter Cubes, 24 Cubes Model 1000205 UPC 850067300205
  • Glitter Cubes, 27 Cubes Model 1000250 UPC 850067300250

Where the Cubes Were Sold

24-piece sets were sold at Michaels stores nationwide and on Michaels.com for approximately $20. 27-piece sets were available on Amazon for around $35. All products were sold between May 2025 and July 2025. Families who purchased cubes during this period should verify if their set is part of the recall.

CreateOn is managing all replacement requests. Parents can call 800-333-0549 on weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT, email pipcuberecall@CreateOn.com, or visit https://www.createon.com/recall/ for detailed instructions. Additional Recall Details

The cubes were manufactured in China and imported by CreateOn, LLC of Wheeling, Illinois. About 9,400 units are involved. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has assigned recall number 26-128. While no injuries have been reported, the danger posed by loose high-powered magnets is significant, prompting the immediate recall.
