Zachery Ty Bryan, best known for his role on "Home Improvement," was taken into custody in November 2025 alongside his partner, Johnnie Faye Cartwright. This arrest occurred just weeks after the public became aware of serious allegations against him. Bryan is currently held at Lane County Jail, awaiting a court hearing in early December.
Details of the Arrest
According to reports, Bryan was arrested on Saturday, November 29, 2025, in Eugene, Oregon, due to a probation violation linked to a previous domestic violence conviction. He was denied bail and is expected to remain in custody until Wednesday, December 3, 2025. His three-year probation for a 2023 fourth-degree assault conviction continues until late 2025.
The 44-year-old actor has a history of legal troubles, including a 2020 Oregon arrest after a heated argument with Cartwright. Initially facing multiple charges, he was ultimately convicted of menacing and sentenced to probation. Reflecting on that incident, Bryan described it as exaggerated in media coverage, stating that the situation involved loud arguing rather than physical violence.
Johnnie Faye Cartwright Also Arrested
Cartwright was also detained during this incident and booked into the same jail. She faces charges of driving under the influence, three counts of reckless endangerment, and attempted first-degree assault. She is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, December 1.
Allegations Against Bryan
Earlier in November 2025, public court documents revealed that Bryan allegedly assaulted his then-girlfriend during the summer. Reports stated that he struck her in the head and issued threats. The documents claim that the altercation escalated after she allegedly bit him during a private moment.
Additional accusations include Bryan harming their family dog. Court filings allege he locked himself in a room with the pet, damaged the door, and in a separate incident, sprayed it with bleach. Following these allegations, a protective order was issued, requiring Bryan to maintain a distance of 100 yards from his ex-partner until September 2030.
Bryans Response and Legal History
Bryans latest arrest adds to a series of previous legal issues, including a DUI arrest in Oklahoma in October 2024 and earlier incidents in California. In interviews, he has expressed remorse, admitting the impact of early fame, poor choices, and addiction on his life and relationships. He emphasized that domestic violence in any form is unacceptable and described the ongoing situation as a serious wake-up call.
