Izzy Darnell announces she will change schools after unexpectedly withdrawing from Bama Rush right before Bid Day (Exclusive)

Izzy Darnell, the social media influencer with over a million TikTok followers, has confirmed that she will be transferring from the University of Alabama after unexpectedly exiting sorority rush just before Bid Day.

Speaking to PEOPLE, Izzy explained her choice to step away from Greek life: "If they don't want all of me, then they are not getting any of me." The influencer, who gained widespread attention for sharing her sorority recruitment journey online, revealed that Alabama isnt the right fit for her and that she plans to continue her education elsewhere.

In an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE alongside her sister Kylan, Izzy stated, "[I'm] definitely transferring from Alabama. Alabama is not the place for everybody and it doesn't have to be; it's not the place for me. So I will be transferring." Earlier in September, Izzy had hinted at exploring other schools, mentioning that her interest had been piqued by a few options but without making formal decisions.

While Izzy hasnt disclosed which school she will attend next, she teased that she already has a destination in mind but isnt ready to reveal it publicly.

The 2025 recruitment season has been tumultuous for the Darnell family. Kylan, Izzys older sister and a senior at Alabama, first gained viral attention for documenting her sorority rush experience. Although Kylan is an active member of Zeta Tau Alpha, she briefly paused her recruitment duties citing mental health reasons. Meanwhile, Izzy emerged as one of the most-watched personalities of this years rush due to her large online following, ultimately deciding to leave the process entirely.

Izzy has also been transparent about her social media career ambitions. In a widely viewed video, she stated that stepping away from Greek life allowed her to focus on content creation without the limitations imposed by sorority rules. "The main reason why I dropped was because everyone was telling me I didn't need one," she shared. "And I agree with that, 100%. I've never really dreamed and wanted one. So I was just like, 'Yeah, I'll try it and if I don't like it then I'll drop later.'"

She also mentioned that the restrictions on social media within sororities influenced her decision: "Genuinely, a sorority has a lot of rules about social media and the way that you can post and talk to people," she said.

For now, Izzy is embracing her independence, enjoying life outside Greek life, and preparing for the next chapter of her academic journey.
