£30 Christmas food vouchers to be distributed to families in need

Peterborough City Council has announced that families requiring support will receive supermarket food vouchers during the upcoming Christmas school holiday. Starting from 17 December, eligible households will be sent 30 vouchers via text message and email.

The council encourages families who may qualify but have not yet registered for the program to do so promptly.

Katy Cole, cabinet member for children's services, commented: "We are pleased to continue offering this valuable support throughout the Christmas break."

Vouchers will be distributed automatically to families identified through school records and council-held data. Those eligible include families receiving funded childcare and education for two-year-olds.

Cole added: "We are committed to assisting families in need. I urge anyone eligible who has not yet registered to sign up without delay. The free school meals program not only saves families approximately 450 per child annually but also provides vital additional funding to their child's primary school."

The vouchers must be claimed by 21:00 GMT on 18 December and can be used at up to 10 participating supermarkets. They must be activated by 18 January, after which they will expire.
