Applications now being accepted for assistance with warm homes program

Residents facing difficulties paying for heating are being encouraged to apply for assistance through a new council program. Staffordshire County Council announced its Warm Homes: Local Grant initiative, designed to prioritize the "most vulnerable" and provide complimentary heating and insulation improvements.

The council anticipates strong interest in the program, which is aimed at supporting individuals experiencing fuel poverty, living in inadequately heated homes, or dealing with health issues aggravated by cold conditions.

Applicants can verify their eligibility online for measures including smart heating controls and loft and wall insulation.

Martin Rogerson, cabinet member for health and care, emphasized the importance of maintaining warmth and wellbeing during winter, stating that keeping residents safe from the cold is a top public health priority. He highlighted that the program is coordinated with district and borough councils as well as local health partners to ensure that assistance reaches those who need it most.

Rogerson also noted that the support could have a "real and lasting impact" on families struggling with energy costs.
