Kate Middleton utilizes 'Mood Boards' for decorating new 'Forever Home' while Prince William finds the move 'Challenging'

The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, has started planning the interior of her family's recently acquired home at Forest Lodge, creating "mood boards" to guide the decorating process.

During a meeting with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and First Lady Elke Bdenbender on Wednesday, Dec. 3, Kate spoke about the family's move, as observed by lip-reading expert Nicola Hickling. She revealed that renovations are expected to begin after the Christmas holidays.

We are putting together some mood boards for the rooms, and we will start after Christmas, Kate told Bdenbender, who responded with interest in seeing the finished results. The Princess of Wales has previously overseen the design of royal residences including Adelaide Cottage, Nottingham Cottage, Anmer Hall, and Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace.

Prince William offered a candid perspective on the relocation, describing it as "rather challenging with elements of twists, but were tackling it."

The familyincluding Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louismoved into Forest Lodge during the childrens half-term break in October. The Georgian mansion, featuring eight bedrooms, will serve as their permanent residence even after William ascends to the throne. The couple holds a 20-year lease from the Crown Estate and privately financed both the move and initial minor renovations, paying market rent for the property.

Forest Lodge provides ample space for family life and allows Kate to further develop her "contemporary classic" decorating style. Plans include a large antique dining table designed to seat 24, ideal for hosting extended family gatherings.

Kate has also explored local craftsmanship, visiting Marina Mills in Cuxton in September. This family-run business has previously supplied hand-printed furnishings to Buckingham Palace and Clarence House, suggesting that some bespoke pieces may be added to Forest Lodge.
