Study finds potential identification of UFOs in 1950s images

Debates surrounding unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs), commonly referred to as UFOs, remain a topic of intense discussion in the United States. Recently, scientists from the Palomar Observatory have added a new dimension to the conversation by analyzing photographic data from the 1950s. They identified brief, starlike flashes that appeared and disappeared within roughly an hour.

These fleeting lights were captured years before humanity launched its first artificial satellite, highlighting their mysterious nature. The researchers described these transients as points of light visible in one image but gone by the time the subsequent photo of the same section of the sky was taken.

Stephen Bruehl from Vanderbilt University commented, Weve eliminated several conventional explanations, which leaves open the possibility that these could be artificial objects of unknown origin.

The team reviewed digitized glass plate photographs from the original Palomar Observatory Sky Survey, conducted between 1949 and 1957. Glass plates were used at the time to document the night sky, providing high-resolution, archival images for contemporary analysis.

Additionally, the researchers built a dataset covering more than 2,700 days to cross-reference transient occurrences with dates of above-ground nuclear tests and reported UAP sightings. Their analysis revealed that transient activity rose by 8.5% for each additional UAP report.

These results offer concrete, observational support for the existence of UAPs and suggest a potential link with nuclear activity, extending beyond mere eyewitness accounts, the scientists noted.
