Authorities have given the green light to transform part of a historic building in Bradford into a GP clinic. The property, located at 20-22 Mill Street, is a Grade II listed structure dating back to the 1870s, situated close to a Travelodge and Bradford Forster Square railway station.
While the upper floors have already been converted into residential flats, the ground floor and basement remain unused, previously serving as a caf. Council planning officials noted that the proposed clinic would reactivate these lower floors and support the long-term preservation of the building.
The application for conversion was submitted by Mill Street Asset Management Limited. Planners highlighted that the site has been empty for several years and emphasized that the council's conservation officer supports the project, recognizing that the work is sensitive to the building's historic character and will restore it to active use.
The external modifications are minor and designed to respect the architectural significance of the heritage structure, ensuring its special features are preserved while adapting it for modern medical use.
