Jon Stewart and Jimmy Kimmel criticize Trump for insulting Tim Walz and undergoing MRI scan

Late-night comedians had plenty to discuss on Monday, Dec. 1, as they returned to their shows after Thanksgiving, focusing on President Donald Trumps recent Truth Social post. The post included a controversial slur directed at former vice-presidential candidate and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kimmel joked, I wonder why he didnt get that Nobel Peace Prize, while Jon Stewart, on The Daily Show, slammed the presidents comment as nonsense. Stewart added, On Thanksgiving?! The press had to spend the holiday at Mar-a-Lago listening to this nonsense, then fly back with him asking for clarification.

Kimmels show, which paused production on Sept. 17 following remarks after Charlie Kirks death, is set to resume. Kimmel, a longtime critic of Trump, has frequently drawn the presidents public ire. Trump even encouraged other networks to follow suit when Kimmels show was initially pulled.

Other late-night hosts have also faced Trumps criticism. In 2016, Jimmy Fallons pre-election interview with Trump drew backlash over a hair-related segment, prompting Trump to criticize Fallon on social media. Fallon later expressed regret about parts of the interview. Seth Meyers, host of Late Night, has also been a vocal critic, earning sharp rebukes from Trump online.

Stewart highlighted Trumps insistence that something is wrong with Walz and mocked the presidents Thanksgiving behavior. He questioned why Trump would use a slur, especially after receiving an MRI scan while claiming he had no idea what part of his body was scanned, insisting that his cognitive test proved his brain function was intact. Stewart remarked, Were you not curious at all? Did you just think, 'What a loud tanning bed'?

Stephen Colbert, on The Late Show, also addressed Trumps confusion about his MRI results, suggesting humorously that the broken part might be the part supposed to know. He mocked Trumps claim of acing his cognitive test, joking that he was sent to the extra credit tube.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kimmel commented on Trumps assertion that others could not achieve perfect marks on the cognitive test, quipping, Wow, Melania is a lucky lady indeed, and displayed a photo of Trump with an awkward expression, humorously implying the president hasnt been the same since Jeffrey Epsteins death.
