The newly constructed Kepax Bridge in Worcester, designed for pedestrians and cyclists, has welcomed more than 330,000 users since its opening a year ago, according to Worcestershire County Council. The bridge, which cost 16 million, spans the River Severn, linking Gheluvelt Park with St John's.
Celebrating its first anniversary, the local council highlighted that the bridge has quickly become one of Worcester's most frequented routes for walking, cycling, and wheeling.
The bridge has also received notable recognition, including an award at the Structural Steel Design Awards and being named Project of the Year 2025 at the CECA Midlands Awards.
Earlier concerns had been raised about one end of the bridge leading to a muddy path, described by a user as difficult to navigate. The council clarified that this path is not an official public right of way and was not part of the bridge project.
The Kepax Bridge continues to attract both daily commuters and leisure users, marking a significant improvement in the city's active travel infrastructure.
