The events inside the elevator at the 2014 Met Gala involving Solange Knowles and Jay Z have remained a topic of speculation for years. Now, over a decade later, a fashion designer has provided a possible explanation for the infamous altercation.

Following the Met Gala, a video surfaced showing Solange seemingly attacking her brother-in-law, Jay Z, in an elevator. The footage quickly went viral, capturing Solange pushing Jay Z toward a corner while security tried to intervene. Beyonc was present, speaking to both parties, but did not physically intervene.

At the time, fans and media speculated about the reason behind Solanges confrontation. One recurring theory suggested that anger over rumors involving Jay Z and fashion designer Rachel Roy might have been a trigger.

Now, designer Oscar G. Lopez has added his perspective. Speaking to the Daily Mail, Lopez mentioned that Rachel Roy played a role in the tension between Solange and Jay Z. He recalled that Jay Z had complimented Rachel Roy on a gown he designed for her, which Solange reportedly felt was inappropriate. Lopez described this interaction as the spark for the drama in the elevator.

Lopez, who created the dress for Rachel after winning Under The Gunn Season 1, also noted that even indirect involvement in a scandal can generate publicity. Sometimes you benefit from a scandal, not even being part of it in a very direct way, he said, referring to the media attention surrounding the incident.

Fans continue to wonder if Solange and Jay Zs relationship has fully recovered since the event and whether the confrontation was truly over a simple compliment at the Met Gala.
