Submission of Plans for Wetland Nature Reserve

Plans have been submitted to convert a flood-prone grassland into a dedicated wetland nature reserve. The Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust has approached East Lindsey District Council (ELDC) with a proposal for land located off Jubilee Way in Horncastle.

The plans include significant landscaping work and the construction of a viewing platform. According to the trust, the aim is to provide a "natural environmental amenity" and create a "visual access area" for the local community.

Historically, the site was used for grazing cattle. The project intends to introduce "shallow scrapes," with the excavated material repurposed to level an area for the viewing platform. Additional bunds will be installed to support local wildlife habitats.

"The site will be planted with native wetland species from Lincolnshire and is designed to need minimal upkeep," the trust added.

East Lindsey District Council will review the application and make a decision at a future date, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
