Alec Baldwin has shared that his eight children played a crucial role in helping him recover emotionally following a deeply challenging period. During an appearance on The Adam Friedland Show on December 3, the 67-year-old actor opened up about how his family became his source of strength after the accidental shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie Rust in 2021. Baldwin was fully cleared of all charges in 2024.

With my kids, especially having a 3-year-old at 67, I have so many children at home, and they truly saved my life, he explained. Life becomes more about where you can give love rather than where you receive it.

The actor emphasized the importance of being able to share love with others. One of the hardest aspects of life is not having anyone to give your love to, Baldwin said. You might carry a lot of love inside, but without someone to share it with, it can feel empty. Having my children around allowed me to pour out that love constantly.

Baldwin also reflected on the past few years, noting that he spent much of that time focused on his family. For the last three and a half years, I mostly stayed home. Being with them every day gave me a chance to exchange love and energy, and that was life-saving, he said.

He shares seven of his children with his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, whom he married in 2012, and is also the father of Ireland Baldwin, 30, from his previous marriage to Kim Basinger.
