BD Wong, Law & Order Star, Issues Apology for 'Racist Stereotype' Comment

BD Wong has publicly apologized after posting an offensive comment on social media influencer Mike Holstons content. The remark, widely criticized as racist, prompted Wong to respond with a formal apology online.

Regret Over the Comment

The comment, which has since been deleted, appeared under Holstons post asking followers to "Name this animal wrong answers only." Wong allegedly wrote, "It appears to be a Black man," leading to immediate backlash.

In a Threads post, Wong admitted, "Yall I made a very bad joke. As most people in hot water do, I deleted it for damage control but its out there & continues to hurt & disappoint & Im really sorry about the hurt part." He added, "Super dumb, but I tried to follow the 'Wrong Answers Only' prompt with the wrongest answer."

He further acknowledged, "This succeeded only in that it was Super Wrong. I know nobody gets a free pass. Im sorry if this #wtfbd moment tarnished any respect you mayve had for me. & thanks if you advocate for an internet thats safe for everybody."

Fans React

One fan commented, "I get it. I really do, but the times we are living are incendiary and words and deeds have meaning and consequences," highlighting the wider discussion about accountability online.

Further Apology

Hours later, Wong posted again to clarify his stance. "I want to elaborate on a racist comment I posted, to clarify that I recognize & accept the responsibility for how terrible it is," he wrote. "Its also wrong to try to explain anything, & I think that causes a further breaking down in folks trust. Let me please spend the energy on how wrong I know it is to exploit a despicable, racist trope in the supposed spirit of humor; I do know better, but again no excuses. Very sorry for the hurt Ive caused & for taking lightly something so deeply injurious."
