Donyelle Jones, former 'So You Think You Can Dance' contestant, passes away following cancer fight

Donyelle Wilson, widely known for her appearances on "So You Think You Can Dance," has died at the age of 46 after a prolonged fight with breast cancer. Her family shared the news on her Instagram account, where she had been openly documenting her decade-long battle with the disease.

"A wife. A daughter. A sister. A friend. And a warrior who fought cancer with unmatched courage every single day," her family wrote on December 2. "Her spirit remained unbroken. Her heart stayed warm. And even during the toughest times, she never lost her radiant smile."

Competing as Donyelle Jones during Season 2 of "So You Think You Can Dance," she achieved third place, following winner Benji Schwimmer and runner-up Travis Wall. In addition to her TV appearances, she performed as a dancer in the film Spirited starring Ryan Reynolds and featured in Missy Elliott's music video for "Pass That Dutch," according to IMDb.

Many in the entertainment world expressed their grief and admiration. Actress Yvette Nicole Brown shared, "She was and IS the best of us. One of a kind. We love you! Thank you for showing us how to live, fight, and love. I will see you on the other side, dancing towards you."

On November 25, Wilson posted a video explaining that she had entered hospice care as her liver began to fail. She spoke about surrendering to God's will and reflected on the "10 years of miracles" she had experienced. Her final message encouraged followers to reconnect with their families and communities. Viola Davis responded, "I receive thisdeeply and fully! God is with you." Singer Tank added, "God hold her close."

Tributes from the dance community poured in. Fellow dancer Alyson Stoner wrote, "I love you, Donyelle. Your legacy will live in gatherings, in kind eyes, and in the movement of bodies. You are always loved and cherished." Benji Schwimmer commented, "Seeing you this week was a gentle reminder that love connects us all. Youre a warrior, D! See you soon."

Wilsons passing comes just two months after the death of another "So You Think You Can Dance" alum, Joshua Allen, the Season 4 winner who had faced his own health challenges.
