Dwayne Johnson and Brendan Fraser Set to Reunite for This Event After 20 Years

Dwayne Johnson and Brendan Fraser will reconnect after a 20-year hiatus for Varietys Actors on Actors Season 23. This distinctive program pairs two actors to discuss their projects, creative processes, and the art of acting. The two stars last collaborated on the 2001 film The Mummy Returns, which marked Johnson's first major film role.

As part of the Actors on Actors series, Variety has paired Johnson with long-time friend Fraser. Season 23 will debut on December 5, with one actor pair revealed daily for 13 consecutive days.

Ramin Setoodeh, co-editor-in-chief of Variety, expressed excitement, stating, We cant wait for fans to enjoy every moment of these conversations on CNN and Variety.

The bond between Fraser and Johnson goes back many years. Johnson previously shared on the New Heights podcast, The first film I ever worked on was The Mummy Returns. At that time, Brendan Fraser was one of the biggest stars in the world, just as he is today. He recalled being thrilled about his role as the Scorpion King and how Fraser made him feel welcomed despite his lack of acting experience.

Johnson continued, Brendan Fraser, by the way, I always want to mention thishe was a major star. I was coming in with no acting experience, excited about my small role. He could have easily rejected me, but instead, he embraced me. Ill forever appreciate him for that; he helped launch my career.

Fraser also reflected on their enduring friendship, noting his excitement to see Johnson take center stage in the industry. Dwaynes a great guy, and its going to be incredible to watch him rise. I predict youll be seeing him a lot more on red carpets soon, he shared.

The episode featuring Johnson and Fraser will air on December 8.
