Fact Check: Trailers for live-action 'Up' featuring Harrison Ford are deceptive

In November 2025, a rumor circulated online claiming that Harrison Ford would star as Carl Fredricksen in a live-action remake of the animated film Up. A trailer allegedly featuring Ford was also shared around the same time, generating excitement among fans and prompting questions about the authenticity of the news.

Despite widespread discussion on social media, there was no credible evidence to suggest that Disney or Pixar were producing a live-action version of Up with Harrison Ford in the lead role. Searches on major platforms such as Bing, Google, DuckDuckGo, and Yahoo returned no reports from legitimate entertainment media. Additionally, the project had no IMDb listing.

Closer investigation revealed that the so-called trailers were created using artificial intelligence tools. These clips displayed clear signs of AI manipulation, including unnatural movements of Ford, robotic voiceovers, and odd camera angles that are not consistent with professional filmmaking standards. Fake movie posters and AI-generated videos have become increasingly common online, often designed to attract attention or generate ad revenue.

Snopes has previously reported on similar instances of fabricated trailers, such as a supposed live-action Simpsons movie starring Adam Sandler and a James Bond film featuring Henry Cavill. These cases follow a similar pattern of viral misinformation fueled by AI-generated content.
