The New York Film Critics Circle has revealed its 2025 award recipients, sparking excitement among cinema enthusiasts. While some victories were anticipated, the lineup also featured several surprising outcomes.

Paul Thomas Anderson's darkly comedic thriller One Battle After Another emerged as a major winner, claiming two awards, including Best Feature Film. This follows its recent recognition at the Gotham Awards, where it also earned top honors. Benicio Del Toro, portraying Sergeant St. Carlos in the film, received the Best Supporting Actor award, marking his second NYFCC triumph since winning Best Actor for Traffic in 2000.

Brazil's official Oscar contender, The Secret Agent, secured two significant awards: Best International Feature and Best Actor for Wagner Moura. Jafar Panahi earned the Best Director award for It Was Just an Accident, adding to the evenings highlights.

In an unexpected turn, Amy Madigan won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Zach Cregger's Weapons, making the category particularly competitive as the awards season progresses. Rose Byrne captured Best Actress for her performance in Mary Bronstein's If I Had Legs I'd Kick You, marking her first major acting accolade of the season.
