The first portion of Stranger Things Season 5 has concluded, yet fans are still left with numerous unresolved mysteries. While some may be addressed in the finale, many concepts remain puzzling.

For example, the show's timeline, though consistent, raises eyebrows. Only four years have supposedly passed since Will Byers' (Noah Schnapp) abduction in Season 1. Season 5 reiterates that Will was taken by Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) in November 1983, while the main events of the current episodes occur in November 1987. Considering the extensive character development and the real-world gap of 10 years since the series first aired, the short in-universe span feels strange.

Another storyline that prompts questions is the Soviet plot in Season 3. The series merges Cold War espionage with the opening of Starcourt Mall, leaving viewers wondering why the USSR would attempt to construct a secret base under a suburban shopping center. Simply opening a portal to the Upside Down might have seemed more straightforward.

Fans also debate more minor but intriguing details. For instance, what are the Dungeons & Dragons classes of all the characters? Dustin, Lucas, and Will play D&D throughout the series, but the show has never fully defined each characters class, leaving room for speculation.

The shows treatment of deaths also raises questions. Some character losses, like Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn), receive significant attention, yet many Hawkins residents perish without similar acknowledgment. The mass casualties caused by the Mind Flayer in Season 3, for example, barely alter the towns routine afterward.

Music choices provide another curious detail. Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink) adores Kate Bushs Running Up That Hill from the album Hounds of Love, but she never plays other tracks from the record, and no other character does either. While likely tied to licensing, it creates a noticeable inconsistency in the series world.

Season 5 leaves plenty of mysteries to speculate on, from timeline oddities to character backstories. Fans can continue theorizing about the unanswered questions and enjoy piecing together the remaining puzzles before the series concludes.
