Timothe Chalamet has opened up about his discomfort with being addressed as Lisan al Gaib outside of the movie set. The Dune actor recently joined Adam Sandler on an episode of Vanity Fairs Scene Selection, where they reflected on some of their past film experiences.

Chalamet on the Lisan al Gaib Nickname

During the interview, Chalamet and Sandler revisited scenes from their well-known movies and discussed the challenges behind their performances. Looking back at his role in Dune: Part Two, Chalamet spoke about the difficulty of mastering Paul Atreides intense monologues.

He explained, The first film didnt give Paul that climactic moment, so it felt like I was building toward it for years. He then added, And now, if Im walking down the street, someone might shout Lisan al Gaib, which is more embarrassing than it seems. Sandler laughed at the comment, and the conversation moved forward.

The Friendship Between Chalamet and Sandler

The interview took place at Fairfax High Schools gym in Los Angeles, where the two actors complimented each others craft. Chalamet praised Sandler, calling him one of the greatest actors ever. Sandler returned the compliment, saying, What you continue to contribute to cinema is incredible. Im excited to see what you do next.

Chalamet and Sandler first met in the early 2010s on the set of Jason Reitmans Men, Women & Children, although Chalamets scenes were eventually removed. Despite this, the actors stayed friends, and in 2023, they were seen enjoying an outdoor basketball game together in New York.

Upcoming Projects

Fans are eagerly anticipating new releases from both actors. Chalamet will appear in the sports comedy-drama Marty Supreme, directed by Josh Safdie, while Sandler joins the ensemble cast of Noah Baumbachs Jay Kelly.
