The 2025 Gotham Awards took place on Monday evening at 7 p.m. ET, hosted at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City, featuring a formal black-tie event. Below is the full list of winners, updated live as the ceremony progressed.
As the first major awards show of the film season, the Gotham Awards have aimed to serve as an early indicator for the Oscars. Since introducing the Best Feature category in 2004, six films that won hereEverything Everywhere All at Once (2022), Nomadland (2020), Moonlight (2016), Spotlight (2015), Birdman (2014), and The Hurt Locker (2009)went on to secure Best Picture at the Academy Awards.
The Gotham Film & Media Institute revealed this years nominations on October 28, with One Battle After Another leading with six nominations, setting a new record. Following closely, If I Had Legs Id Kick You earned four nods, while It Was Just an Accident and No Other Choice received three each.
Since 2021, the awards eliminated the traditional acting categories divided by gender, now presenting only two gender-neutral honors: Best Lead Performance and Best Supporting Performance. A Best Breakthrough Performer award is also presented to recognize emerging talent.
Two years ago, Gotham lifted the previous $35 million budget cap, allowing both major studio productions and independent films to compete together.
Special tributes were also given during the ceremony. Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman were honored with the inaugural Gotham Musical Tribute for Song Sung Blue. Other tributes included Director Tribute for Noah Baumbach, Spotlight Tribute for Tessa Thompson, Ensemble Tribute for the Sinners cast, Vanguard Tribute for Guillermo del Toros Frankenstein, Cultural Icon Tribute for Jeremy Allen White and Scott Cooper for Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, and Visionary Tribute for Luca Guadagnino and Julia Roberts for After the Hunt.
Notably, two anticipated films, Marty Supreme and Is This Thing On?, were not ready in time for Gotham consideration but remain eligible for other upcoming awards, including the Golden Globes, Critics Choice, Actor Awards, and the Oscars.
